Ardyth Faye Rumsey 1935-2013
Ardyth Faye Rumsey was born on June 8, 1935, in Strang, Neb., to Milo W. and Jessie E. Crawford. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 1, 2013 at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo., at the age of 78.
Faye lived her early years in Strang, Neb., where she attended school through second grade. Her family moved to Geneva, Neb., where she graduated from high school in 1952.
Faye was married to Richard L. Rumsey on Aug. 23, 1954. To this union were born four children: Roger Dale, Michael Zane, Shari Jo and Terry Lynn. The family moved to Colorado in 1963, where Terry was born. The Rumseys lived in Grand County until 2003, at which time Richard and Faye returned to Geneva. In 2013, Richard and Faye relocated to Palisade, Colo., where they were living at the time of her death.
Faye was a legal secretary for many years as well as administrative assistant for SilverCreek Ski Area and Deputy Clerk for the Town of Granby. She loved secretarial work and enjoyed people.
Faye was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, Richard, Jerry, Don and Bob; her sister JoAnn Hafer; a sister-in-law, Tsuya; her son-in-law, John Burkhalter; and her son, Michael. She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons Roger and his wife Gloria of Lakewood, Colo.; Terry and his wife Traci of Littleton, Colo., and her daughter, Shari Burkhalter of Grand Junction, Colo.; her daughter-in-law, Joni Rumsey of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Ian Rumsey and his wife Jamie; Asa Holley and his wife Aila; Asher Holley; Craig Finney; Dustin and Melissa Rumsey; Delaney, Klareesa and Autumn Rumsey; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Tobin Rumsey; her sister Sherry Radke and her husband Skip of Fairmont, Neb.; sister-in-law Shirley Crawford of Geneva, Neb.; brother-in-law Maurice Hafer of Geneva, Neb.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Granby Baptist Church.
