Obituary: Doug Weimer
January 11, 1956 – March 25, 2025
Our beloved Doug passed away March 25, 2025 after battling cancer several times over many years. His family stood with him during his illness as did his friends. Doug professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. Doug was a skilled craftsman no matter whether he was working with metal or wood. Doug was a skilled hunter, typically an elk was his winters’ meat. Doug loved the Williams Fork Reservoir especially in spring and early summer. He delighted in catching large pike and mackinaw. Doug’s true calling though, were his green houses and his garden. He planted all his tomatoes from seed and harvested several hundred pounds of tomato of all varieties each year, including the heritage tomatoes. His cabbages were huge, as were his beets and turnips and wonderful carrots, kale, lettuce, spinach and several varieties of Swiss chard. His home is ringed with Nanking Cherry bushes that produce many gallons of cherries each year. It was said he had a green thumb but the truth is, it was plain hard work most every day. Doug was expert at soil building using composting, recycling and producing his own additives such as charcoal. Doug was a friend of every stray cat and dog that he ever saw and he kept quite a few. Uncle Doug had a wealth of nieces and nephews that loved him. Doug was a career miner retiring from the Henderson Mine/Mill. Doug was preceded in death by his wife Marlys (Dailey) and his father Skip (Weimer). Doug will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. No services are planned.
