Obituary: John A Dillie

John Andrew Dillie, long time Granby – Grand Lake area resident, was born on his grandmother’s kitchen table in Fort Lupton, Colo. He died peacefully, at his home, in his sleep. He served in the Army Air Corps, in Europe and North Africa, from 1942 to 1945. He built Dillie Docks, on Lake Granby, in 1951 and operated it until his death.

He was proceeded in death by his father Marcus Dillie, his mother Katherine Wheatley, and his brother Marcus Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Sherian Nelson and her husband David of Boulder and Doreen Babbitt of South Carolina and his sons, David Dillie and Lisa Bakken of Granby – Grand Lake and John and Cathy Dillie of Boulder.

Internment will be at Fort Logan at a later date.
