Norma Lee Yoakum, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on March 19, 2025 at the age of 99. Norma was born November 19, 1925 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Wiley and Blanche Rambo. She graduated from Stillwater high school and attended Oklahoma State where she studied business. As a young girl, Norma was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. On June 27, 1947 she married Joe Curtis Yoakum. They moved to California in the late 40s. Norma was a devoted, wife and mother of two. She enjoyed volunteering at Sierra Hospital in Fresno, California. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, sewing and bowling. She spent many summer vacations in Grand Lake starting in the early 1960s. She enjoyed boating, visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, and shopping in the quaint village of Grand Lake.
Norma liked to travel and enjoyed trips to Europe and Hawaii.
She is proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joe Curtis Yoakum. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Crane (Kelly), daughter Sandra Lea Stainbrook, grandchildren, Travis Crane, Stacy Maalik (Faheem), Kristin Britton McCormick (Ryan) and Sarah Higby(Calvin). In addition are great grandchildren, Drache Crane, Tony Crane, Sabriyah, Elijah, and Hannah Maalik.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 13th from 4-6 at Grand County Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at the Grand Lake Cemetary, June 14th at 10:30 AM, followed by a brunch at Sagebrush BBQ & Grill in Grand Lake, CO. Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
