William Ellis Chambers passed away on August 28, 2023 in Denver, CO with family members present. He was born August 12, 1955 to Vernon and Mary Louise (Peterson) Chambers in Belvidere, IL. Bill attended Belvidere High School and Rock Valley Community College. He also worked at Boone County Conservation District. Bill earned his bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University in Minnesota.
Bill moved to Colorado working in the ski industry at Steamboat Springs and Winter Park. Tidd Tech Company utilized his innovative ideas to design and manufacture cross country ski grooming equipment. Settling in Fraser, he built a home surrounded by mountain views where he enjoyed the communities and loved the people for 40 years. Besides snowboarding, downhill and Nordic skiing, he enjoyed motorcycling and bicycling. Being a lover of nature he knew many facts about wildlife and participated in the annual bird count. He liked to fish and hunt deer and elk. In his later years you could find Bill at Devil’s Thumb Ranch or Thin Air Fitness in the morning and the Rocky Mountain Roastery in the afternoon.
Bill is survived by siblings Connie Chambers (Kevin Barrett), Wausaukee WI, Susan (Steve) Stotz, Castle Rock, CO, and John (Angie) Chambers, Belvidere, IL, as well as nieces and nephews.
Horan and McConaty Funeral Home in Colorado is assisting the family. A celebration of life will be held on October 7th at Bill’s home in Fraser, CO.
