Obituary: Margaret J. Blevins

Margaret J. Blevins, longtime Craig resident, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at The Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was 92.

Margaret was born on June 10, 1917, in Steamboat Springs to Ferdinand J. and Daisy (Thompson) Laub. She was raised in Mt. Harris, Craig and Walden, where she attended high school.

Margaret married Vernon J. Blevins on July 4, 1938, in Steamboat Springs.

They made their home in Craig and later moved to Bozeman, Mont. and then to Granby, before moving back to Craig in 1981. Margaret worked as a clerk in drug stores in the communities in which she lived with most of her time being at Cowan’s Drug in Craig.

Margaret enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, doing crafts and crossword puzzles, crocheting, making fudge and most importantly being with and caring for her family and other people.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years Vernon J. Blevins, of Craig; her daughters Penny (Bud) Nelson and Laura (Anthony) Tremaine both of Craig: her son Jim Blevins of Craig; she is the grandmother of Kelly Mosman, Lance (Maria) Mosman and Misty (Jerrad) Muniz; great grandmother of Karisa, Jerica, Devlyn and Deven Mosman, Merinda Bartholomew, Travis Cook and Madaline Muniz.

She is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Alice Mae Ridings and her brother Ward T. Laub.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services were held on Monday, June 22, 2009, at The Grant Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Leonard Browning officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado VNA Home Health Group in care of Grant Mortuary.
