Obituary: Tom Sawyer

On March 1, 2015, the world lost one of the greatest men, husband, grandpa, son, brother, dad, adventurer, sailor, diver, fisherman. He was a mentor and friend.

Tom lived each day and taught us how to live life to its fullest. He spent many years on the Granby Chamber Board, volunteered to help out the Winter Park Chamber, and owned Mountain Timber Furnishings & Tabernash Business Center. His real claim to fame and true love was the Fraser Valley Lions Club. You could always find him cooking sausages and making coffee in the Yellow Lions Trailer.

Tom died of a heart attack while on his boat, doing things he loved, fishing, diving and being with his wife, Wendy. They were in a small cove nestled in the Sea of Cortez, outside of Loreto, Mexico.

He always seemed to be the “go to guy” when anyone had a problem. At 79 years young he was out living life to fullest. There are so many amazing, wonderful memories.
