October head count for East Grand Schools declines slightly

Sky-Hi News staff report

The student count for the 2012-13 school year at East Grand School District has been calculated based on Oct. 1 enrollment. The results, still labeled as “unofficial,” show a drop in overall enrollment from 2011 of 28 students.

The largest decrease in student population from 2011 occurred at Indian Peaks Charter School, which reported 33 students this year, compared to 53 in 2011.

Granby Elementary School reported the only increase in students, with 354 in 2011 and 358 in 2012.

Fraser Valley Elementary has three fewer students than in 2011, East Grand Middle School has seven fewer, and Middle Park High School reports two fewer students.

Compared to the preliminary head count in early September, both Granby Elementary and Fraser Valley Elementary reported anticipated increases of five and nine students, respectively.

Because of missing personnel, West Grand schools were not going to conduct their head count until later in the week.
