Oktoberfest this Saturday in Granby
Saturday, Sept. 22, is the first day of fall, and what better way to welcome a new season than with an Oktoberfest celebration.
The Granby Chamber of Commerce is promoting family fun, starting with a 5K run/walk at 10 a.m. and then a festival full of activities from noon until 6 p.m. at Polhamus Park in Granby.
The Fun Run/Walk is for individuals of all ages. Registration starts just before the race, from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and costs $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Proceeds from the race benefit the Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, which promotes prevention of alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse.
Polhamus Park will host various activities for both kids and adults, including crafts, food, and a beer garden. Local Grand County bands Washboard Annie and ACME Tribute Band will be on hand to provide live music. A quilt show featuring mostly local quilters will be on display at the nearby Granby Elementary School.
“That’s something special that people should find their way across the road to see,” said Lesley Janusz, of the Granby Chamber of Commerce.
