Opinion | Hamilton: Special to Sky-Hi News
December 27, 2018
Dear "Central View" readers: The bad news is that "Central View" will no longer appear in the "printed pages" of the Sky-Hi News. The good news is that "Central View" will continue to be provided at no cost to the Sky-Hi News just has it has for over 20 years. But readers will have to read it on the online at http://www.skyhinews.com. While I would prefer for "Central View" to be in both the print and online versions of the Sky-Hi News, the editor and publisher say they need the print space for other uses.
In addition to reading "Central View" on the Sky-Hi News website, readers can also read "Central View" at http://www.central-view.com. In fact, a free subscription is available at the "subscribe now" tab. Moreover, central-view.com provides an archive of newspaper columns going all the way back to 1999. The "author" tab provides a brief bio. Also, my e-mail address is at the bottom of every column. Most every e-mail receives a reply.
Available through Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com and some Grand County retailers, a selection of over 150 "Central View" columns is in print as: The Wit and Wisdom of William Hamilton: the Sage of Sheepdog Hill, Pegasus Imprimis Press, 2016.
Also, there are several other ways that Wonder Wife and I can continue communicate in print with our friends and neighbors in Grand County. She and I co-wrote four espionage novels based on our time in the military and on our extensive world-wide travels. All of the novels begin and end in Grand County. They can be purchased via Amazon.com and at several retail outlets in Grand County. Two of the novels are in the local library system. We wrote them as William Penn. They are: The Grand Conspiracy, The Panama Conspiracy, The Berlin Conspiracy, and JFK: The Umbrella Conspiracy. Like most novels, they are largely autobiographical, tracking our joint adventures and misadventures around the world disguised as Buck and Dolly Madison. For a free preview of all four spy novels, go to: http://www.buckanddolly.com. Currently, Buck and Dolly are hidden in the Federal Witness Protection Program. At some point, we may decide to bring Buck and Dolly back in public, albeit we will probably have to change their names — again.
To be published in 2019, is my 50-year-long study of the origins and conduct of the Vietnam War that began during my two years in Vietnam and 57 days in Cambodia. The working title is: War During Peace: The Folly of Sanctuary Warfare. When this work of non-fiction is available, I will find ways to let readers know.
Another work-in-progress for 2019 is a super website designed to encompass all of our works of fiction and non-fiction. In other words, one-stop shopping for all the many books, magazine articles and USA Today commentaries I have written over the last 34 years.
For those of you who do not desire or have access to the Internet, I bid you a fond farewell. It has been my honor to provide "Central View" to you in print for free in the Sky-Hi News for over 20 years.
