The Middle Park Panthers and the Cubs of East Grand participated in the Moffat County Cross Country Invite on Sept. 23.
All the young harriers had outstanding days with Ben Kaune leading the Cubs to a fourth place team finish in the middle school boys race. Bryanna Byrnes, Corrine Schmanke and Sydney Rector all came home with top finisher T-shirts for pacing the Cubs to a first place finish in the girls race.
The girls from East Grand have won three of their four meets this season.
In the high school race, Dane Jensen and Sage Harper were in the top 15 of the men’s race, running neck and neck.
History was made in the women’s race, as the Panthers took home a team title for the first time since 2020. Margo Redding, Briell Eaton-Aherns, Chloe Seppala and Josie Nance were all in the top 10. Jillian Wehmeyer finished in the top 20. The Panthers beat their rivals from Eagle Valley by nine points to take home top honors.
Next week, the Cubs travel to Salida for their last meet, while the Panthers have a week off from racing.
