Partial closures begin at Kremmling Airport
Starting June 15, Kremmling McElroy Field will close Monday through Thursday morning for the next 10 to 15 days due to construction. The airport reopens each Thursday, noon through Sunday for weekend flying. The partial closures are
scheduled to end June 25, but may extend through July 2 if necessary.
A counterpoise system is being installed to help prevent lightning strikes from blowing out runway lights. Lightning has been an ongoing problem for the airport. The project is being funded by two FAA grants totaling $150,000, plus a required 2.5 match ($7,896) from Grand County.
