Passenger of one-vehicle crash sustains serious injury
A one-vehicle crash on Grand County Road 48 west of U.S. Highway 34 resulted in a DUI arrest and serious injuries to the passenger.
Colorado State Patrol troopers arrested Colleen Kretschmar, 57, of Denver, upon her release from Granby Medical Center on charges of DUI, vehicular assault and careless driving. She was driving a 1992 Dodge Stealth when she veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The passenger in the vehicle, James Kretschmar, 62, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Both occupants were transported to Granby Medical Center, and James was later flown by helicopter to St. Anthony’s Hospital, Denver, according to a report from the Colorado State Patrol. Neither the driver nor passenger had been wearing seatbelts.
The incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, about 15 miles northeast of Granby.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Lake Fire, and Mountain Parks Electric also responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Report: Snowmobile pinned man killed in Rollins Pass avalanche
The man who died in Grand County’s most recent fatal avalanche asphyxiated after being pinned by his snowmobile on Mt. Epworth outside Winter Park, according to the final report from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
