Pathers start seasonn with win

Middle Park’s boys basketball team began its season with a 69-65 win over The Classical Academy in a close home game on Tuesday Dec. 7.

The Lady Panthers also played their first game against Classical Academy. The girls finished the first quarter on top but Classical Academy soon caught up.

Junior Moreya Gardner lead the game scoring a total of 18 points and 3 rebounds. Senior Quincey Pederson scored 9 points and 2 rebounds.

Senior McCall Linke and juniors Madison Shipman, Justine Bickler and Meghan Allen also scored. However, Classical Academy brought their game and defeated Middle Park 58-42.

The Panther boys fell behind Classical Academy during the first half of the game but stormed back during third quarter to lead their school to victory.

Junior Cort Brennan led the scoring with 20 points. Sophomore Ben Eaton scored 17 points and had 2 steals. Sophomore Johnny Stensvad scored 14 points and made 2 steals. Senior Colby Marr scored 13 points and stole the ball 6 times. Senior Marc Schmidt and junior Connor Dolan also contributed points to the victory.

Coach Shawn McElroy takes the boys basketball team to the Golddigger Invitational in Idaho Springs on Friday and Saturday.
