Paul Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for Sunday

The first ever Paul Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament, benefiting Grand County Search and Rescue, will be held this Sunday at the Grand Elk Golf Course in Granby.

The Paul Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament honors the memory of former Search and Rescue Field Director and Granby Town Trustee Paul Robertson, who passed away in early March of this year from complications related to gastric cancer. Robertson, who moved to Grand County in 2010 and was a member of the local, all volunteer, Search and Rescue team.

This Sunday’s memorial golf tournament will begin at 9 a.m. at the Grand Elk Golf Club with check-in activities. The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The tournament will feature games and prizes along with the golfing activities.

Funds raised from the tournament will go to support Grand County Search and Rescue. According to officials from Search and Rescue the team is funded almost entirely by donations, fundraisers and grants. Funds received as donations go towards acquiring and maintaining the team’s rescue and command center vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs, and for the repair and replacement of team gear such as litters, ropes, climbing hardware, medical equipment and radios.
