Pellet plant is not a good thing for Kremmling

To the Editor:

Nothing I’ve read in your paper or heard has convinced me that pellet plants are a good thing. In fact, I think we stand on the verge of ruining our rarefied air and lifestyle.

I can’t imagine half a dozen or more 70-foot silos spewing smoke in Kremmling. Are the leaders asleep?

It doesn’t matter that the scrubbers will clean the

smoke; there will still be particulates and respiratory problems in the Kremmling area and downwind into Summit County.

Even with scrubbers, there will be huge amounts of CO2 emissions, green house gases. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t regulate CO2 yet.

There are other ways for the beetle kill wood to be dealt with. Why are we giving in to this seemingly horrible idea ” for a few jobs and tax dollars to local governments?

Do you forget the respiratory problems from the wafer board plant in Kremmling? Do you forget the winter inversions? Doesn’t Grand County already have one of the highest cancer rates in the state?

News media, do your investigative job, show statistics, give us the whole story, prove this is a good thing. Don’t just take the public relations text from the companies and change a few words.
