Perhaps motorists should help fund new trails
September 10, 2009
To the Editor:
How disappointing that there are people who live in Grand County who do not believe riding a bike should be a celebrated activity.
If anything, the burden of improving our trail infrastructure should be placed on motorists. This would have the dual effect of discouraging driving and encouraging cycling and hiking. Unfortunately, our trails and trail access seem to be disappearing at an alarming rate due to development and logging.
Whether you are a road rider or a trail rider, the positive aspects of both of these sports far outweigh the negatives.
