Members of the Middle Park Emergency Response Team and the Grand County Special Response Team were activated to assist with the investigation of an incident at an apartment on Ten Mile Drive on the morning of Jan. 8.

Granby Police arrested Michael Lucero, 46, on charges of assault in the first degree, a class 3 felony; assault in the third degree, a class 1 misdemeanor; and use of controlled substance cocaine, a class 6 felony.

The alleged victim sustained a black eye and lacerations to her lip and was treated at Granby Medical Center, according to Granby Police.

Police found what appeared to be blood on the door of the Granby address when they arrived at the apartment, which triggered the need for additional resources to secure and investigate the residence, said Granby Police Chief Bill Housley.

The police department was made aware of the incident when it received a call from an out-of-state person stating concern for a female relative who lived in Granby. The person was unable to make contact with the relative.
