Polis promoting vegetarian school lunches
NORTHGLENN, Colo. (AP) – Remember mystery meat from the school cafeteria? What if there wasn’t meat at all?
Democratic Rep. Jared Polis is headed to a charter school in Northglenn to promote a bill of his that would introduce vegetarian options in school meals. Polis says his bill could help combat child obesity.
Polis is promoting his plan by stopping by a cafeteria at noon. Lunch and breakfast at Westgate Community Charter School contain no high-fructose corn syrup or trans fats.
The cafeteria serves hormone-free milk and meat from cattle that have not been given antibiotics or hormones.
