Public invited to celebrate RMRT ground breaking
April 10 will be a landmark day in Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s 42-year history. To commence construction on its new theatre complex, RMRT leaders have announced an official groundbreaking ceremony.
“Because of the high level of community support during the capital campaign, RMRT’s board of trustees asks to share this happy occasion with all of the Grand County community,” said trustee Bob Scott.
Big Valley Construction of Granby will begin constructing Phase One of the new theatre complex, which includes the 296-seat auditorium, stage and backstage areas and restrooms. With the assistance of Benchmark Enterprises of Evergreen and Wells Partnership of Greenwood Village, RMRT’s project managers, and O’Bryan Partnership Architects of Breckenridge, RMRT has formulated a construction timeline that would allow for Phase One construction while Phase Two fundraising continues.
The theatre hopes to raise the remaining $620,000 prior to August 2010 to ensure construction of the dressing rooms, rehearsal/youth theatre room and lobby.
The construction process is anticipated to last 14 months; a grand opening is scheduled for June 2011.
“We owe so much to the Town of Grand Lake and the surrounding community for making this dream a reality,” said board president Judy Jensen. “We want to share this special day with all.”
