Reba Ferguson will always be remembered as a Grand County arts supporter
To the Editor:
The Grand County Blues Society lost a dear friend and pioneer of Blues in the School on April 1. Reba Ferguson was the first person we talked to about the GCBS doing a Blues in The School program. Reba greeted the new idea with open arms and eagerness. She was always welcoming and grateful to us for doing things with her students. She always made the artists feel at home and welcome. Blues in the Schools for us was born at the Fraser Elementary School, and Reba led the way.
Just last Thursday we witnessed a musical production based on the blues done by the fifth grade class . It was the culmination of five years of coming to the school and bringing music to these kids. We have watched them grow and know that Reba was very proud of that performance and she should always be remembered as a great leader and a supporter of the arts. It will seem strange not to see her smiling at our Blues in the School performances.
