Rocky Mountain Folk School announced March 7 that Gillian Butler Horne has been promoted to executive director.
Horne has been the Rocky Mountain Folk School program coordinator for the past year and a half. Board president Alan Walker stated that Horne “has done an incredible job of increasing the number and variety of classes offered” at the folk school.
He stated that Horne has taken on many additional tasks, including fundraising, financial reporting, facility management, marketing, strategic planning and representing the folk school. Since she is already fulfilling many of the responsibilities of an executive director, it was the natural choice to promote her to that role, Walker said.
Volunteers from the Grand Lake Creative District, along with Grand County Economic Development, formed Rocky Mountain Folk School in 2022. The folk school offers classes teaching traditional art forms, such as pottery, leatherwork, woodworking and more. Learn more at RockyMountainFolkSchool.org.
