Rocky Mountain National Park campsite changes subject of discussion at public meetings
The National Park Service wants to talk with people this week about proposed changes at Rocky Mountain National Park.
The National Park Service is holding public meetings to talk about changes, including shutting down 26 campsites at Longs Peak Campground. That site would be replaced with a 250-space parking lot, and 26 campsites would be added to the Forest Service’s Meeker Park Campground in the Roosevelt National Forest.
The plan also includes changes to the Lily Lake area, the Longs Peak Trailhead area, and the Meeker Park Campground and picnic area alongside or near the Peak to Peak Highway between Allenspark and Estes Park.
Public meetings on the changes will be held this week in Allenspark, Estes Park and Boulder.
