Scam alert update: T-shirt company did have an agreement with MPHS coach

UPDATE, Feb. 24: Principal Eldred informed the Sky-Hi he had a misunderstanding with the athletic director, and that there had indeed been an agreement between the National High School Printing Association and one of the Middle Park High School coaches. In an email to the Sky-Hi, Eldred said: “Due to the nature of this arrangement we have asked that they discontinue their solicitation of local businesses. The promotional advertising that has already been sold will be honored and MPHS will insure that local businesses who have participated are recognized for their generous support.”

GRANBY, Feb. 21, — Middle Park High School principal Scott Eldred reported a possible scam related to a T-shirt “fundraiser” for the school’s cheer team.

Company “National High School Printing Association” is reportedly calling local businesses, asking them to buy ad space on a “Don’t Text and Dive” T-shirt to be distributed at the high school for a cheer team fundraiser. Eldred said the company has no affiliation with Middle Park High School or the cheer team. Those who believe they have been victims of this scam should contact the sheriff’s office at 970-725-3343.
