School bond about eduction, not administration

To the Editor:

Rarely, if ever, do I respond to a letter to the editor. However, the letter from Stevan Hickox of Granby in the newspaper of Wednesday, Sept. 26, necessitates this response.

While Mr. Hickox is entitled to his opinion, I want to make sure the public understands that the issues in the bond election are not about the administration nor any one individual within the school system or community. The issues are about providing classroom space for the children of our community so that we can have the pride to make this community a better place to live, as advocated by Mr. Hickox.

The space is needed now and costs will only increase in the future. The school board president and myself, as superintendent, will no longer be part of this system when students occupy the new classroom space proposed.

Please don’t make all the students face the consequences of a “no” vote solely on the basis of personal feelings regarding an individual in the school system. As a community, please know the facts and issues and decide accordingly for the welfare of the students.

Superintendent, East Grand School District
