Search called off for mountain biker thought to have faked his dissapearance

VAIL, Colo. (AP) – Vail County deputies are seeking to recover the cost of a search for a man believed to be missing on Vail Mountain after investigators say he faked his own disappearance.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly says more than a dozen deputies and rescuers had been searching Vail Mountain for Justyn Lamarine of Boulder. Investigators say he parked his car behind Vail Mountain on Aug. 8, took a bike back down and caught a bus to in Arronsburg, Pa., where he was contacted by authorities.

Cordingly says there is a warrant for Lamarine’s arrest because he never registered as a sex offender.
