The search for a missing man in Rocky Mountain National Park near Bear Lake has been scaled back on the fourth day.

Searchers have been looking for Troy Green, 39, of San Antonio, Texas, since Thursday, Jan. 31. The search was scaled back Monday due to concerns about the safety of search and rescue personnel and lack of clues and new information.

Green was reported as missing on Jan. 31, when his wife did not hear from him. As many as 45 individuals and a number of search dogs were participating in the search on Sunday. The search has not turned up any clues as to where Green could be.

Since Wednesday, the park has experienced high winds and some snowfall. A number of avalanches have been reported in the area, though recon flights have indicated the avalanches did not appear to be triggered by humans.

Green was reported as wearing black snow pants, a black puffy down jacket, black gloves, and a black balaclava, by two witnesses who reported speaking to Green at 1 p.m. on Thursday. They did not see which direction Green went after they spoke to him.

Numerous trails emanate from the Bear Lake area and it is unknown where Green planned to go.

Park rangers are seeking information from anyone who was visiting Bear Lake on Thursday, Jan. 31, or Friday, Feb. 1. Call Rocky Mountain National Park at 970-586-1204.
