Search for suspect near Parshall suspended

The search for the male party that fled Grand County Sheriff’s Deputies Wednesday afternoon was suspended Wednesday night at approximately 8 p.m.

Authorities believe they have an I.D. on the suspect but could not confirm his identity and were not able to release any names. The incident began Wednesday afternoon shortly after 2:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling down US Highway 40 was clocked on radar by deputies traveling at 90 mph. After fleeing from authorities the driver of the vehicle pulled into a nearby farm and fled on foot.

Deputies found an empty gun holster in his vehicle prompting concerns that the suspect was armed. The Middle Park Emergency Response Team was nearby training at the time the incident occurred and because of the empty holster discovered by deputies the team began searching the nearby area.

The incident occurred just west of the town of Parshall.
