Searchers find hat, shoes of Steamboat woman who fell in creek

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS (AP) – Searchers have found a hat and shoes belonging to a missing Steamboat Springs woman who fell into a creek.

Forty-year-old Rebecca Green and her 8-year-old son, Kade, fell into Fish Creek while hiking Saturday. Kade was rescued and was treated and released at a hospital. His mother hasn’t been found.

The Routt County Search and Rescue Team found the hat and shoes Sunday. Searchers are resuming the hunt Monday but hadn’t found Green by midday.

Team spokeswoman Riley Polumbus says hopes of finding Green alive are fading because so much time has passed since she disappeared.

Green’s husband, Rodney Green, was in San Diego on Saturday but has returned and spent much of the day Sunday with search crews at a trailhead near the spot where his wife disappeared.
