Shaken, not stirred: Get your Bond impression ready for new Casino Royale fundraiser

WINTER PARK — Get ready to roll dice, raise wagers and test your luck at the first annual Casino Royale event on Saturday evening at the Headwaters Center.

Featuring blackjack, craps, Texas Hold ‘em and roulette, the evening will be a chance to role play James Bond while raising money for the Opportunity for Youth Fund of the Grand Foundation.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and will feature complimentary food and drinks from Wild Horse Catering, Deno’s Mountain Bistro, Idlewild Spirits, Odells Brewery and Republic National Distributing Company.

Guests will receive $200 in chips for gaming, which will then be exchanged for tickets entered in a drawing for prizes. Prizes include a 2018-19 Ikon pass, artwork by Karen Vance Giclee, a trip for four to Los Cabos and a Yeti Cooler package.

Money raised by the event will go to the Opportunity for Youth Fund, which awards local grants for school or cultural trips, music or leadership camps, athletic or arts and culture activities and additional educational pursuits.

The mission of the fund is to help local youth build self-esteem and empower them. The fund has been awarding grants since 2009.

“Every young person should have the opportunity to live their dreams despite financial deterrents,” said Megan Ledin, executive director for the Grand Foundation.

Tickets for the event are $75 and available at the door. Martinis are optional.
