Sheriff’s office evacuating Big Horn Park subdivsion

Update 4:30 p.m.: The Grand County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuations for the Big Horn Park subdivision.

Residents of the Big Horn Park subdivision are being asked to go to the Kremmling Fairgrounds for evacuation check-in.

Original story: The Grand County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a wildfire near Parshall around noon today and issued an evacuation notice for a camp in the area.

The East Troublesome Fire is roughly 15-20 acres and burning northwest of Bighorn Park near Parshall in rough terrain, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office mandated a camp at the Wheatley Creek Trail evacuate the area.

Officers are utilizing off-highway vehicles to access the fire because there are no roads in the area. No structures are currently at risk, the sheriff’s office added.

Also responding to the fire is the Bureau of Land Management, Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire and Kremmling Fire.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts as strong as 104 mph on Berthoud Pass this morning, and high winds are expected to continue throughout the day.
