Shining Stars Foundation Hosts Grand County Summer Adventure

Grand County and the Shining Stars Foundation welcome one hundred seventy-four kids with cancer and life-threatening diseases and their families to attend a family camp at Beaver’s Lodge in Winter Park from August 1-5, 2012. Five days of fun and adventures in Grand County include a day in Grand Lake boating and hiking, a day at the Winter Park Resort, concerts, dancing, swimming, Bingo, horseback riding, rodeo, fishing, museum tours and more. Local businesses and organizations from the towns of Grand Lake, Fraser, and Winter Park have generously donated discounted lodging, meals, and activities to the Shining Stars Foundation for the family reunion. Over 100 volunteers from Grand Lake, Granby, Fraser and Winter Park will welcome the Stars and their families to our great county for some high altitude experiences. Grant funds from the Grand County Board of County Commissioners, Town of Winter Park, Town of Grand Lake, Lion’s Club Foundation of the Fraser Valley, Wells Fargo Bank, Rendezvous Foundation, and the Grand Foundation help to support this local event. Local businesses and organizations who give in-kind donations and volunteers to the Grand County Summer Adventure include the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Rotary, the Lion’s Club, Sombrero Stables at the YMCA of the Rockies, the Grand County Historical Association, Rendezvous, Hernando’s, Fontenot’s, Subway, Deno’s Mountain Bistro, Smokin’ Moe’s, Rudi’s Deli, Winter Park Resort, Pancho & Lefty’s, Headwaters Marina, Boater’s Choice Marina, The Coin Drops Here, Rocky Hi Speedway, Grand Lake Chocolates, Candy Lane, Fraser Valley Rec Center, High Country Stampede, Blues Society, Ski Depot, Adventures in White Water, Cooper Creek Square, Rise & Shine Bakery, Coffee and Tea Market, Active Images, Safeway, Church of the Eternal Hills, Showboat Catering, Epic Mountain Sports and Carver’s Bakery.
