Shots fired, vehicles burn in Wheat Ridge police chase

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (AP) – Shots have been fired and a police car has crashed and burned during a pursuit in suburban Denver, but authorities say no officers were hurt.

A suspect was taken to a hospital after the incident in Wheat Ridge Tuesday morning. The nature of his injuries isn’t known.

Authorities say one or more officers were pursuing a stolen vehicle when someone in the vehicle fired at least two shots at them.

A police car crashed into an SUV and both caught fire. It’s unclear whether the SUV was the stolen vehicle.

Television helicopter video showed a dazed and injured man being removed from a residence nearby in handcuffs. He collapsed and was loaded into an ambulance. It’s not clear whether he was the suspect in the stolen vehicle.
