Ski Granby Ranch to open next week

Ski Granby Ranch is slated to open next Thursday, Dec. 17.

Director of Mountain Operations Shane Matthews said at least three trails on the east mountain and two runs on the west mountain would be open including green, blue and black terrain.

Those trails include Easy Money, Drifter and Buckhorn on the east mountain and Dragon Lady and Speculator on the west mountain.

The resort’s base area runs and Milestone lift will be open as well.

“With this storm coming in this weekend, if it gives us a little bit more snow, some of the areas that we don’t have snowmaking could probably open up,” Matthews said.

The resort currently has an 18-inch snowmaking base on top of a 6 or 7-inch natural base, Matthews said.

Granby Ranch is also hosting “Carve Away Hunger” in conjunction with Mountain Family Center.

On Dec. 17, 18 and 20, visitors can bring three food items for Mountain Family Center’s food totes program and receive a discounted all-day lift ticket.

On Dec. 19, visitors can bring a full bag of non-perishable food to receive a free all-day lift ticket.

Preferred food items include individual servings of oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, fruit cups, snack pack pudding cups, mac-and-cheese cups, ravioli cups and soup cups.

Granby Ranch will offer free s’mores around the fire pit every Saturday starting Dec. 19.
