Sky-Hi launches "Best of Grand County" contest

Drew Munro / From the Editor
Grand County, CO Colorado

During the more than two years I’ve called Grand County home, I haven’t noticed a shortage of opinion among the public, no matter the topic.

Certainly we have not experienced a dearth of advice regarding, say, the operation of this publication. Nor, from what I gather from others who are similarly situated in the public limelight, have they been at a loss as to what others think about their performance.

The saying, ‘Everyone is a critic,’ may be a bit of an overstatement. But, it holds true enough in Grand County.

Which is as it should be.

Mark Twain so aptly put it: “The public is the only critic whose opinion is worth anything at all.”

So, without further ado, we are pleased to present to our readers the opportunity to weigh in on just about every aspect of life in Grand County.

Our Best of Grand County contest will run from Oct. 15 through Nov. 12. Registered users on our Web site, skyhidailynews.com, will be able to vote once per day in as many categories as they like during that time.

Categories run the gamut from the best apres ski venue to the best fishing hole to the best golf course to the best margarita to the best romantic dating spot to the best winter attraction.

Vote from any computer capable of visiting skyhidailynews.com, including the computer we will set up expressly for that purpose in our front office at 424 E. Agate Ave., Granby.

We also encourage savvy businesses to set up computers so their clients may cast votes at their convenience.

Again, voting is restricted to registered users on our Web site: one vote per user per day for the duration of the contest. Voters may cast votes in as many or as few categories per day as they please.

However, in the interests of maintaining voting security and fairness, once users have logged on to the contest, that will count as their vote for the day. There is no returning to the contest until the next day, regardless of whether a vote was actually cast or not.

For those who are not registered users, it is simple. Simply click on the “Become a member” link on the upper right-hand side of the Web site, which after next Wednesday will be in a “Members’ Hub” box, and fill out the required fields.

On Friday, Nov. 13 – surely a lucky day for those special few – the votes will be tabulated. The results will remain guarded under the utmost security until they are published before Dec. 1 in a special section in the Sky-Hi Daily News.

The section will feature the top three finishers in each of the 70-plus categories.

Winners, of course, will bask in the glory of their bragging rights until next year’s contest, which we hope to expand based in part on input from you, our readers.
