WINTER PARK – Firefighters continue to take advantage of a short window of ideal conditions for burning piles on Tunnel Hill.

Burning will continue today (Nov. 11) and may begin to occur at lower elevations and closer to U.S. Highway 40. Smoke and flames may be visible from various areas in the Fraser Valley.

Trail users and hunters are asked to avoid this area while pile burning is in progress. Precipitation, wind, temperature, fuel moisture and staffing all play a part in when and whether ignition occurs.

Thursday, Nov. 13, is the next anticipated burn window.
