Smokin’ Moe’s concert beneftis cancer patient Steve Schott
Steve Schott was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma cancer. A benefit has been organized to offer emotional and financial support for Steve before he travels to Pennsylvania for treatment and to spend time with family.
The benefit will take place 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Smokin’ Moe’s in Winter Park.
Everyone is welcome to come support Steve, and there is no cover charge for attending. Live music has been donated for the event by Hunker Down, Gary Key, Eric “Oly” Olsen, Matt Holiday and Matt “Hippie” Petty among others.
A silent auction and raffle (over $5,000 in overall value) has been scheduled during the event to help raise money for Steve with a huge assortment of donated items highlighted by Snow-cat back country ski tours, Pole Creek golf outings and a 7-day stay in Mexico for the upcoming off-season.
Steve has called Grand County home since 2006. During his time in Winter Park, he was the master brewer at the Wild Creek Brewery and is currently the Bar Manager at Randi’s Irish Pub (you may recognize him as Randi’s kilt-wearing employee).
Steve is an avid tri-athlete and has recently competed in the Alcatraz Shark Swim for Juvenile Diabetes and a Multiple Sclerosis Benefit Marathon. Steve was integral in assisting with the organization of the initial Craig Thomason fundraiser to raise money for the “Craigy T” foundation.
For those unable to attend, financial donations are being accepted on Steve’s behalf at Wells Fargo Bank (Winter Park Branch, Attn: Steve Schott), Randi’s Irish Pub and Carvers Bakery.
Any “last minute” raffle or auction donations will be accepted as late as 3 p.m. the day of the event by calling 970-726-8202 and asking for Darla Rector.
Steve is looking forward to seeing everyone at Smokin’ Moe’s on Wednesday.
