Granby Ranch hosts inagural ‘Sol’ Survivor Mountain States Cup Championship Series races
July 30, 2008
Granby Ranch will host its first Colorado State Mountain Bike Championships on Friday through Sunday as the Mountain States Cup Championship Series schedules its sixth stop this season on the slopes of SolVista Bike Park.
With competitions on Saturday and Sunday in cross-country (XC), dual slalom (DS), downhill (D) and super downhill (SD), pros and amateurs will rule the course with practices, contest finals, and putting on a show for all spectators of the State Championships.
Open for enjoyment by all when the event is over, SolVista Basin Bike Park at Granby Ranch is the transformation of the alpine skiing slopes to a summer mountain bike mecca. Launched May 23, the park features six trails geared for all ability levels. Two black, two blue and two green trails wind down the mountain, complemented by a pump track and dual slalom course in the base area.
The pump track is geared for all abilities as well and is located between the Basin’s fire pit and main ski lift. Berms and rollers allow bikers to generate speed and momentum while honing in their skills.
For non-riders, a social area and patio side bar are located next to the Base Camp Lodge at the bike park.
“Few resorts in North America have displayed more commitment to mountain biking than the folks from Granby Ranch,” says Mike McCormack, Mountain States Cup Series Director. “What they’ve created is truly something special, and we look forward to an amazing event.”
