Last week, the Ladies of the Nifty Niners used their gross scores subtracting total putts to tally their final nine hole outcome. With a score of 30, Lee Rogers swept first place, followed by Jan Jackson’s 36 and Sharon Peterson with 42. Two Chip-Ins were recorded. Vickie Nessan on hole No. 2 and Jennie Negri on hole No. 3. Nassau, a game recording scores and awarding prizes by using totals from the front nine holes, the back nine holes and the total 18 holes, was the game of choice on Tuesday, July 20, for the Grand Lake Lady Tee Bags. Tina Hull won the front nine with a net score of 35. Phyllis Stephens won the back nine also with a net score of 35. And, the winner of the 18 holes was Elaine Jacoby with a net 72. Lorraine Johnson recorded an amazing chip-in on hole No. 11. Lowest putts of the day went to Lorraine Johnson, 34, Phyllis Stephens 34, Carolyn Moore 35.104 golfers attended the Annual Charity Golf Tournament for a Cure at the Grand Lake Golf Course on Monday, July 19. This year’s Charity Scramble Tournament raised money for both Susan G. Komen’s Rally for the Cure and Arnie’s Army Battles Prostate Cancer. Known as the ‘Pink & Blue Charity Tournament’ this year’s event raised $20,976.00.Half of that money was raised in tournament fees, donations and auctions items generously donated by individuals and businesses in Grand County, the other half of those funds came as a matching donation from an anonymous donor. Finally, Curly and Pat Brooks, after seeing the total raised by the Tournament, donated $26 to give the Tournament efforts an even $21,000. Thank you to Coni Moore who served as tournament chair for the fourth year, as well as all the sponsors, contributors, and volunteers for making this a very successful fund-raising tournament.
