Seven of the 10 members of the Mustangs track team qualified for the state finals, which will beheld in Pueblo this weekend.
Jordan Davidson posted her third consecutive title in the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches, and Danette Billington took first places in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 4.25 inches and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 48.56.
Billington also qualified in the 100-meter hurdles with a second place finish. Melissa Kraker cleared 5 feet in the finals of the high jump to take second place. Teammate, Brook Cecil, who had earlier pre-qualified in the high jump at 5 feet, finished in third place at 4 feet, 10 inches. Cecil also qualified in the 400-meter dash with a third in the finals in a time of 1:03.48.
Erin Beason had her best pole vault effort of the season with a third place height of 7 feet, 6 inches.

The boys team also made an excellent showing at the regional meet. Seniors Louis Farrell and Marshall Kraker led the way as Farrell took first in the pole vault and Kraker qualified in both the discus and shot put with third place finishes. Rick Gamblin, with a vault of 11 feet, and freshman Tim Ritschard at 9 feet, 6 inches qualified second and third in the pole vault competition.
Jake Motz turned in the most exciting qualifying effort of the meet for West Grand when he came from several meters back on the home stretch to take third place in the 400-meter dash by one-one hundredth of a second in a photo finish.
Coach Joe Shields noted that Motz is an inspiration for anyone rehabbing from a significant injury. He had major knee surgery following the football season and has worked hard to come back and qualify for the state meet.
The boys finished in fifth place among the 17 teams. Drew Klotz missed qualifying but made it through to the finals in both hurdle events and was the lead runner in two relays that placed sixth.
Klotz finished in fifth place in the 110-meter high hurdle race and seventh in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a season best time of 44.30. Drew Sidener was eighth in the 110-meter hurdle race and ran on two relay teams.
