Avout Racing Blue Team won the 2016 Epic Singletrack series team award at Winter Park Resort last month.

“The series is the preeminent race series in Colorado,” said Barry Wiebe, founder and team manager of Avout Racing.

“And the race is well run.”

The team is comprised of 10 racers from the entire team based in the Front Range. The series race director reviews the finishing times of all the racers and and assigns points.

There are 135 cyclists on the team with many being serious racers, and some casual racers. There are 35 kids on the junior team.

Avout Racing sent two teams this year to compete in the Epic Singletrack races. Their blue team won first and the white team placed sixth. The team also won the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series.

This year is the fourth year in a row Avout Racing won the team competition.

Wiebe has an impressive race history.

He was Colorado State Champion and was nationally ranked.

“I have been very competitive my entire life,” he said.

When he started Avout Racing it was small and the focus was to have fun and give back to the community. However, it was always a competitive team.

Team members volunteer for for Habitat for Humanity, work on trail building projects and work with area high school racing teams.

“It makes people upbeat and we have a very good time doing it, and it attracts good racers. We have a strong team at competition,” he said.

Now that mountain bike racing season is over the next season is Cyclocross and some team racers will compete in a three-day stage race.
