East Grand Middle School skiers compete well in Frisco

East Grand Middle School (EGMS) Nordic skiers put in a good showing Saturday at the Frisco Gold Rush Colorado High School Athletic Association middle school races. Both the boys and girls skied a fast, 3-K course in cold conditions. For the boys, 8th grader Sebastian Brower took second place overall out of 79 competitors, skiing the course in 10 minutes, 34 seconds, two seconds behind the first place winner from Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy.

Top skier for the EGMS girls was Sage Michel, who finished 14th overall of the 60-racer field, completing the course in 13:53. Sylvia Brower, a fifth grader at Granby Elementary School skiing with EGMS but competing as an independent, came in 15th place, just one second behind Michel.

Other top finishers for the middle school boys were Alex Holinka (11:53, 11th overall, 2nd for EGMS), Vinny Troccoli (12:24, 16th overall, 3rd for EGMS), Ethan Ruttenberg (20th overall, 4th for EGMS), Ethan Callarman (25th overall and 5th EGMS), Aidan Carver (30th overall, 6th EGMS), Guy Granger (40th overall, 7th EGMS), Graydon Walker, (46th overall, 8th EGMS), Will Kuhns (53rd overall, 9th for EGMS), Jesse Claney (59th overall, 10th for EGMS), Mark Peters (64th overall, 11th EGMS), Quinlan Monkouski (65th overall, 12 EGMS), Sam Ewert (67th overall, 13thEGMS), Chance Hein (68th overall, 14th EGMS), Jack Nesvara (69th overall, 15th EGMS), Shug Reynolds (70th overall, 16th EGMS), Jonathan Siefken (71st overall, 17th EGMS), Mason Chamberlin (72nd overall, 18th EGMS), Gabe Martensen (75th overall, 19th EGMS), Bryce Gantt (76th overall, 20th EGMS) and Ayden Hickam (77th overall, 21st EGMS).

For the girls, EGMS put in a strong showing in the middle of the field. Other finishers were: Maggie Barker (14:39, 20th overall, 2nd EGMS), Madeline Ruttenberg (15:53, 27th overall, 3rd EGMS), Jayden Bergen (29th overall, 4th EGMS), Emily Lanterman (33rd overall, 5th EGMS), Avery Mutch (33rd overall, 6th EGMS), Elizabeth Hammond (41st overall, 7th EGMS), Sierra Jamison (44th overall, 8th EGMS), Krista Conrad (45th overall, 9th EGMS), Rosemary Trotter (54th overall, 10th EGMS), Taylor Lahrman (55th overall, 11th EGMS) and Sage Johnson (56th overall, 12th EGMS).
