Erin O’Connor of Grand Lake signs with Bethany College
Erin O’Connor of Grand Lake has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Bethany College during the 2014-2015 athletic season.
O’Connor was a three-year starter in soccer and a four-year varsity basketball player at Middle Park High School. The 6 foot, 2 inch post player averaged 12 points per game, eight rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists per game in her senior year. She also had 80 blocks and 75 steals while shooting 56 percent from the field.
O’Connor was a 2nd Team All-Conference Award winner in 2013. She improved and was named 1st Team All-Conference in 2014 and was an Academic All-State Honorable Mention as well.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the signing of Erin O’Connor. She is another great find for us from the state of Colorado,” said Bethany head women’s basketball coach Brett Morehouse. “Erin will provide us with something we really didn’t have last season, and that is a true presence in the post.
“In addition to her size and length, she is athletic enough to be a threat for us in transition while also having the ability to step out and shoot a little bit from the perimeter,” Morehouse added. “Erin put up very good numbers during her senior season, but what’s most impressive is her desire to improve her skills and her knowledge of the game.”
Erin is the daughter of Simon and Candice O’Connor. She plans to study psychology while at Bethany College.
