Friday preps: Middle Park football picks up first win

Middle Park won its first football game of the season with a 25-20 win over KIPP on Friday evening, Oct. 17, in Granby. The Panthers wrap-up their season next Saturday, Oct. 25, when they face Jefferson at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Cross Country

West Grand senior Tabor Scholl took first place in the 2A girls regional meet in Colorado Springs on Thursday qualifying for the state championships next Saturday in Colorado Springs. Scholl finished in a time of 19:05–more than two seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Middle Park’s Mark Simmons also qualified for next week’s state cross country championships with a 10th-place finish at the 3A boys regional meet on Friday in Delta. Simmons finished with a time of 17:17.95.


West Grand wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 win over Vail Mountain on Friday in Kremmling. The Lady Mustangs won 25-14, 25-12, 25-18. West Grand will now prepare for district play next weekend in Oak Creek.
