Golf league updates
The Nifty Niners had another fun day, July 19, at the Grand Lake Golf Course. While playing a game called “Sub 2,” those who finished as winners were: Jacque Davis-1st place, Barb Koenig-2nd place, Margaret Nill-3rd and Gladys Howard and Stephanie Holt tied for 4th. The putt winners were Pat Nail and Margaret Nill. Nancy Smith had a par on Hole #11
Matthew Stewart, of Denver, was visiting friends in Grand Lake and upon his second time ever golfing Grand Lake Golf Course, got a hole-in-one! This occurred on Saturday, July 23 on Hole 16 for a 160-yard distance and using a pitching wedge. This is the third hole-in-one at Grand Lake Golf Course since June!
Pole Creek ladies
On Thursday July 21 the Pole Creek ladies golf league played a “6-6-6-“ team event tournament. The teams used one best Net ball score on holes 1-6, two best Net ball scores on holes 7-12, and three best Net ball scores on 13-18. The winning teams were: 1st Place team: Beth Daniels, Pam Brown, Stacy Hoffer and Deb Kohlwey 128, 2nd Place team: Helen Brown, Gigi Dominguez, Madelyne Stevens, Mary Regehr 130. 3rd Place team: Lori Myers, Mary Byerrum, Sandy Williams, Mary Brooks 132. Susie Noel had the fewest putts with 29 and 9 Ladies shared the chip in pot.
Darlene Klancke made a Hole-in-One at Pole Creek golf course, on Meadow #4 using a 9 iron.
Grand Lake Women’s Golf
Secret Holes was the name of the game Tuesday, July 19 at the Grand Lake Golf Course. The Lakers played 18 holes before the Hostesses of the day shared which 9 of those holes counted toward the game. Half the handicaps were used after scoring nine holes for net scores. First place went to Laura Summers with a net 33. Joan Ophaug was second with a 36 followed closely by Jean Klanica with a 36.5. Jane Demrow had a beautiful chip-in on hole #7 for a Par and Pat Snyder took a 3 on hole #10 for a Birdie! All-in-all it was another beautiful day on the golf course!
Grand Lake Mens Club
On a beautiful July 20 the Grand Lake Mens Club played a Four-Man Scramble. Finishing in first place with an amazing net score of 48 were Bob Barnett, Steve Ophaug, Fred Ernst (and a Blind Score), followed in second place by the team of Doug Johnson, Mike Montgomery, Dick Lucas and Jerry LaRusso with a net score of 50.”
