Granby " Craig Stadler Golf Tournament benefits at-risk youth
Professional golfing legend Craig Stadler invites golfers to share an afternoon with him at the 4th Annual Craig Stadler and Friends Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 16 at the Grand Elk Ranch and Club in Granby, a Craig Stadler signature golf course.
Stadler and friends donate their time to this cause, giving golfers the opportunity to play with the 13-time tournament winner while benefiting Open Fairways, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk and underprivileged youth through golf.
“Mr. Stadler and Grand Elk generously donate the course and their time to this great event,” said Dana Irwin, development officer with Open Fairways. “Mr. Stadler spends his day out on the course playing with the participants and always leaves a smile on the players’ faces.”
The tournament is followed by an awards reception and silent auction where Mr. Stadler and friends mingle with the crowd.
Entry into the tournament is $1,500. Single tickets to the silent auction are also available for $25. For more information or to sign up, visit http://www.openfairways.org, call (303) 330-1221, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.

“This is the fourth year for this event and every year it gets better” said Irwin. “I think giving the sponsors the opportunity to play in such a unique event with Mr. Stadler is what has made this event the success it has become.”
Since 1999, Open Fairways has worked with more than 7,500 children teaching them the game of golf and paralleling it with values such as self-respect, honesty, patience, sportsmanship and self-discipline.
Open Fairways offers five programs to the at-risk youth they serve: Front 9, Back 9, Indoor Front 9, Career Opportunities and Caddying Focused Mentor Programs.
Each program offers the youth an opportunity to sign a “player contract.” By signing, the children pledge to stay in school, off of drugs and out of gangs. In exchange, the youth earn unlimited FREE range balls, FREE equipment rentals, and $1 green fees at nearly 35 designated “In the Fairway Facilities” throughout Colorado and Wyoming until the age of 18.
