Granby Middle Park standout Romshek competes in NAIA indoor track championships

Rachel Romshek, a junior at Doane College in Crete, Neb., is competing in NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships this week in Johnson City, Tenn.Romshek, a 2005 graduate of Middle Park High School, will be competing in the womens pole vault at the national championships being held on the campus of East Tennessee State University. The meet starts Thursday and runs through Saturday.To earn her berth to the nationals, Romshek made a qualifying pole vault of 10 feet, 10-1/2 inches at the regionals. She is one of the six athletes that Doane College qualified for the championships, which is the highest number for any NAIA college team.This will be Romsheks first trip to the national track and field championships. Her achievement is made even more remarkable because she is recovering from ACL surgery last August.Rachel is the daughter of Dick and Ann Romshek of Granby.
