Grand County skiers compete in Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Classic
Seventy-nine skiers competed in the Snow Mountain Ranch Classic 15-kilometer race on Sat., Jan. 10.
Local competitors included Kremmling’s Shawn Scholl, 44, who took eighth place overall and second in the 40-49 male age group with a time of 1:01:36.7.
Fraser’s David Zink, 49, took 10th, and third in his age group, with a time of 1:02:03.0. Fraser’s Karen Waeschle, 46, took 13th place overall and 2nd female overall, with a time of 1:03:54.7.
In 23rd place overall and 18th among men, and second in his age group, was Patrick Brower, 53, of Granby with a time of 1:08:07.6. In 36th place, and 28th among the men, and seventh in his age group, was Fraser’s Cecil Lockwood, 52, with a time of 1:14:07.0. In 47th place, and 35th male, was Jeff Schmidt, 29, of Granby with a 1:18:13.0 time; and 8th place in the 20-29 male division.
Granby’s Tina Wilson, 52, came in 53rd place overall, 14th female, and fifth in her age group, with a time of 1:20:54.7. In 63rd place, and 47th male, fourth in his age group, was Tim Schowalter, 64, of Granby with a time of 1:28:35.3. In 65th place, and 17th female, and first in her age group was Grace Dyck, 67, of Granby with a 1:29:59.8 time. In 69th place, and 50th male, and fifth in his age group, was Glenn Allen, 61, of Granby with a time of 1:31:06.4.
The 7.5K race had 63 participants. Joe Recek, 26, of Granby took 39th place, and 22nd male, and 11th in his age group with a 40:43.5 time. In 46th place overall, 21st female, was Granby’s Gretta Fosha with a time of 43:22.0. In 49th place, and 28th male, and 10th in his age group, was Simon Zink, 10, of Fraser with a 45:14.7 time.
Fourteen children participated in the Kids 2K race. Kremmling’s Tabor Scholl, 11, took third place in the Kids 2K with a time of 7:20. Kremmling’s Tyler Scholl, 8, took fifth place with a 7:58 time. In ninth place was Granby’s Sylvia Brower with a time of 11:44. Granby’s Sebastian Brower, 7, took 10th place with a 12:44.
