Grand Lake’s Taber Miyauchi named ASC Runner of the Week

Special to the Sky-Hi News

LeTourneau University junior Taber Miyauchi of Grand Lake was named the co-American Southwest Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday.

It is his second weekly honor from the conference in 2015.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, at the University of Dallas Invite, he won the 5K race in a personal-best time of 16:17.97 for an 11-second victory over his closest competitor. It is the first individual win for Miyauchi in his career at LeTourneau. Miyauchi shared the weekly honor with Dylan Zoch of Concordia.

Miyauchi is the first winner in program history to win this recognition multiple times in a season since Peter Martin won the honor on three occasions in 2012.

The next meet for Miyauchi and the LETU men’s cross country team is the American Southwest Conference Championships on Oct. 31 on the campus of UT Tyler.
