Grand Nordic Ranch2Ranch Ski Trek takes place Feb. 8

Sky-Hi staff

Join the fun on Feb. 8 with the Grand Nordic Ranch2Ranch Ski Trek, the next in the series of treks in Grand County offering people the opportunity to cross country ski in new areas.

The trek joins Grand County’s major recreation areas, starting at Ski Granby Ranch with a lift ride to the top of East Mountain, on Nordic trails down to the Fraser to Granby trail at Val Moritz, to Tim’s Tunnel under Highway 40, and through the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch property, ending at the YMCA Nordic Center.

The trek starts at the top of the lift across the Vista Ridge Trail. Dogs can join their people at the first aid-station on the Upper Val Moritz Road. The route through the YMCA is still being confirmed. The total distance is about 13 KM. Classic light touring gear is recommended.

Granby Ranch will have various breakfast and snack specials available at the start of the Trek and the YMCA will have a barbecue available to everyone at the finish for $10 for adults and $6 ages 6-13.

Mountain ski patrol and two aid stations will be along the route. Cost is $25 per person for Grand Nordic members and $35 per person for non-members until Feb. 7. Add $5 the day of the event. Register online at or call Diana Lynn Rau at 970-887-0547. This is a benefit for kids and school Nordic programs in Grand County.
